The meaning of the word peer
In the most general sense the word peer describes a person who has equal standing with another or others, as in rank, class, or age. For example the students Kai and Anna, both 16 years old, are attending school together. For that reason we are allowed to call them peers. This term is applicable to all, adults too. For example the colleagues Petra (39) and Herbert (42) belong to a similar age class. Generally peer education programs and projects addresses groups of young people

The combination of peer and education has the following definition: “Peer education indicates the teaching or sharing of information, values and behaviors by members of same age groups.
